Museo Jumex - Epicenter of Contemporary Art Just Minutes from Hotel Alteza Polanco

The Jumex Museum, also known as the Jumex Foundation for Contemporary Art, has established itself as one of the most important cultural platforms in Mexico City and Latin America. Located next to the Soumaya Museum, this prominent venue opened its doors in November 2013, expanding access to contemporary art in the region.

The museum's story began in 1994 when Eugenio López Alonso, a businessman and owner of one of Mexico's leading food companies, acquired his first work of art. What started as a personal endeavor soon evolved into the most significant collection of contemporary art in Latin America.

During the 1990s, López Alonso dedicated himself to researching and learning about contemporary art worldwide, supported by experts who guided him in curating his collection. Thanks to his passion and vision, he acquired pieces from renowned international artists such as Andreas Gursky, building a significant and diverse collection.

Today, the Jumex Museum is an undeniable reference point for contemporary art, featuring a high-quality exhibition space that offers visitors a unique artistic experience.
